Two North East venues are raising a glass to the next stage of their businesses, thanks to support from Mincoffs Solicitors.

Owners of Sicilian bistro Liosi’s Italian Bistro, at Newcastle’s Saville Place, and fine dining restaurant Rebel, at Heaton Park Road, have cause for celebration after being granted alcohol licences for their respective venues.

Partner and Head of Licensing and Gaming, Matt Foster, drafted and submitted both applications, along with representing Liosi’s Italian Bistro at a hearing where the decision was finalised by Newcastle City Council.

The city centre restaurant is the second Liosi’s location for owner Sebastiano Mario Liosi, who also operates a café bar by the same name overlooking the River Tyne at Amethyst Road, Newcastle.

“We are delighted to be opening our second Liosi’s venue and the new bistro is in an excellent location,” he said.

“It was fantastic to have Matt Foster assisting us in acquiring our alcohol license and he ensured a smooth process from start to finish.”

New Heaton venue Rebel is the first restaurant for head chef and owner Lindsay Rushton and business partner, Mike Reid.

Lindsay has previously worked at favoured North East establishments including Jesmond Dene House and Michelin star House of Tides.

“Starting a business in the middle of a lockdown was no mean feat so we’re delighted to be opening our very first bricks and mortar venue just a year later,” he said.

“Getting our alcohol license was an important next stage for us and Mincoffs were a huge help in demystifying the process and Matt Foster supported us every step of the way.”

Matt Foster was delighted to assist the two venues throughout the application process.

“Liosi’s Italian Bistro and Rebel are two fantastic additions to the Newcastle food scene and it was a pleasure to help Sebastiano and Lindsay obtain the correct licences they need for their businesses,” he said.

“I have no doubt that both venues will be very popular and I wish them both the best of luck with the future.”
