Revolutionary specialist tech recruitment firm secures £1m funding

Haystack, a tech recruitment specialist start-up launched during lockdown, has raised £1m via a seed funding round to support its nationwide expansion.

Founded by Mike Davies, Chris Bone and Rob Simmons in 2020, Haystack uses a job matching algorithm to pair candidates in the tech industry with suitable opportunities in data, design and engineering. The platform negates the need for costly tech recruitment agencies, and ensures that employers are presented with the best candidates, and job seekers are shown the best jobs for their skills.

The trio secured the £1m funding via private investment from tech entrepreneur and former MD of Bede Gaming, Dan Smyth and the Government’s Future Fund. The investment will go towards supporting the platform to scale across the UK and further afield, and Haystack has already secured partnerships from the likes of Accenture, Sage and Bottlepay.

Legal advice for the investment round was provided to Haystack by John Nicholson and Daniel Bell from Mincoffs Solicitors’ corporate team. Corporate partner, John Nicholson, commented: “The service provided by Haystack is revolutionary for the tech recruitment industry, making it a very attractive investment opportunity, and we were pleased to support the team in this investment round. We look forward to seeing the platform continue to scale.”

Paul Newton, Finance Director at Haystack commented: “John and Dan were fantastic throughout this process. Their advice has been invaluable to Haystack and their team is a pleasure to work with”.
