HistoCyte Laboratories, a Newcastle based biotech firm, has been acquired by Swedish company, Atlas Antibodies AB.

HistoCyte Laboratories was founded in 2014 by Colin Tristram and Ian Milton, who share over 30 years’ experience in the development of diagnostic products. Over the past 2 years, the firm has experienced a successful period of growth, moving to purpose built laboratories at Quorum Park to accommodate its growing workforce. Staff numbers have doubled in the last 12 months alone. This growth has occurred despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Stockholm-based, Atlas Antibodies AB, has acquired HistoCyte Laboratories in a deal that will facilitate the Newcastle firm’s next phase of growth and meet rapidly changing market needs.

Legal advice on the sale was provided to HistoCyte’s founders by the Corporate team from Mincoffs Solcitors, led by partner, John Nicholson.  The team worked closely with the founders to deliver the transaction in a very tight timescale. John Nicholson commented: “It has been a pleasure to work with Colin and Ian and we wish them, and the rest of the HistoCyte management team, the best of luck for their future plans.”

Colin Tristram said: “The prospect of this deal was very exciting, we have worked hard to build HistoCyte Laboratories and the right partner was critical. We found a company that shared our ethos in Atlas Antibodies. From there on in it was about having an experienced legal team that understood our position and could help drive this in a timely manner.  John Nicholson and his team were excellent and helped make for a smooth M&A process”.
