How and why we use personal data

Under the Data Protection Legislation, we can only use your personal data if we have a proper reason for doing so. Generally we do not rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your personal data other than:

  • if have given us your business card (and you are not our existing customer or represent a corporate business);
  • if we want to share your details with a third party (e.g. because we think that their seminar or networking event might be of interest to you); or
  • for the purpose of press releases (e.g. to publicise a deal we have advised you on).

Where your consent is required, we will ask you for such consent separately and clearly. You have the right to withdraw consent to marketing at any time by emailing marketing@mincoffs.co.uk.

Even if we are not required to obtain your consent for marketing purposes, you can still opt-out of receiving marketing communication at any time, by emailing us at marketing@mincoffs.co.uk or using the ‘unsubscribe’ link in our marketing emails, so you are still in control.

The lawful reasons for processing of personal data include:

  • to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations;
  • for the performance of our contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract;
  • for our legitimate interests or those of a third party; or
  • because you have given consent.

A legitimate interest is when we have a business or commercial reason to use your information, so long as this is not overridden by your own rights and interests.

The table below explains what we use (process) your personal data for and our reasons for doing so:

If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us at dataprotection@mincoffs.co.uk. If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.
