A popular women’s networking event which has raised thousands of pounds for North East charities has marked a decade since its inception with a special anniversary celebration.
Newcastle-based corporate and commercial law firm Mincoffs Solicitors launched Fizz in the City in 2015, after seeing a gap in the market for an informal event aimed at women in business.
Earlier this month the team commemorated the longevity of the event by welcoming more than 100 attendees to As You Like It, Jesmond, to celebrate its 10 year anniversary.
Featuring a performance from North East string quartet Aurora Strings, the event raised money for The Millin Charity – which supports women to set up their own businesses, gain employability skills, access training and improve their confidence and wellbeing.
Spotlighting a chosen charity at each event, Mincoffs’ Fizz in the City has raised thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes over the last decade, including The Angelou Centre, Maggie’s Newcastle, Chuf, COCO, NE Youth, The Children’s Foundation, Children’s Cancer North and True Colours Theatre in recent years, with Mincoffs matching funds raised on the day.
The event, which is held three times a year and is free to attend, welcomes women across various industries, such as property, professional services, hospitality, education and charity.
Julie Parr, chief operating officer at Mincoffs Solicitors said: “Fizz in the City started from a simple conversation between colleagues and has grown into a great force for good when it comes to fostering connections, building community and supporting women in business.
“We are particularly proud of the charities we have given a platform to and supported over the years, highlighting the incredible work they do across the North East and further afield.
“We were delighted to see so many familiar and new faces come to our anniversary celebration, some of whom had been attending Fizz in the City since the very first event, and we look forward to continuing to welcome them to Fizz for many years to come.”
