If you disclose information pertaining to malpractice or wrongdoing within the workplace, this is known as ‘blowing the whistle’.

The Employment Rights Act 1996 protects employees against dismissal if they have made a protected disclosure because they believe that it is in the public interest. This protects you from dismissal or victimisation as a result of making the disclosure.
