When it comes to getting a grant of representation, most people will need either a grant of probate or a grant of letters of administration. The former gives the executor named in a will the authority to collect the assets in an estate. However, if an individual dies without a will, then a grant of letters of administration will be required in order for the administrator to act with legal authority.
